A website (or Web site, according to Associated Press guidelines) is a collection of Web pages, typically common to a particular domain name or sub-domain on the World Wide Web on the Internet. A website may be the work of an individual, a business or other organization and is typically dedicated to some particular topic or purpose. Where as, New Media is a relatively new field of study that has developed around cultural practices with the computer playing a central role as the medium for production, storage and distribution. This involves artifacts like email marketing and so on.

To date, there are nearly 80 million websites in the world with registered domains. What makes a website unique is not just the content of the website, it has a lot to do with the design of it.
